Illinois law requires mobile home owners to be responsible for disclosing accurate vehicle information to the county where the vehicle resides.  This page explains how to provide Will County with the appropriate registration information.

Mobile Home Registration

Mobile home owners must register their vehicle within 30 days of taking possession.  To do this, download the Mobile Home Registration Form, complete it, sign it before a notary, and return the original to our office.

Purchasing a Mobile Home

If you purchase a mobile home, the Illinois Secretary of State requires the county to issue a certification indicating payment of all taxes before they will transfer title to the new owner.

For the county to process a certification, we need an original (or copy) of the front and bank side of the title.  If there is outstanding tax on the vehicle, you must pay the tax before we will complete the certification process.  Please allow ten days to process a certification request.

Tax Payment Information

The Will County Collector mails mobile home tax bills annually on March 1.  You must pay the taxes within sixty calendar days.  If you make a payment after the due date, you will pay $25 per month in interest penalties, capped at $100.

The Will County State’s Attorney will file a lien on any unpaid tax.  In addition to paying any outstanding taxes, you must pay $24.75 per lien to release a lien.

If there was an error on your bill, please complete the Affidavit to Correct Mobile Home Bill, sign it before a notary, and return the original to our office.
